The Makeup Show is one of the hottest industry events to attend if you are a make-up professional. Celebrating its 5-year anniversary this year, The Makeup Show hosted, over 40 workshops and seminars.  HMM was able to take part and observe the happenings for the first time.  We arrived somewhere around noon at the Metropolitan Pavilion on 18th Street, and didn't expect to see such a large crowd--an eclectic mix of flawlessly made up make-up artists, the everyday beauty fiend, semi-nude models and creative creations. 70 different booths of make-up companies, beauty suppliers, schools, and skin care lines quickly reduced us into a kids in a candy store. A woman's dream, so many eye shadows, foundations, blushes and lipsticks for you sample and purchase.
There was so much to take in through all of the frenzied shoppers. The booth for the well-known Makeup Forever, had a line that was a few feet long, and the others were just as crowded with women pouring in to take advantage of discounted prices and hard-to-find products. Attending the show was worth all the elbows we had to throw and the pushing we endurded in order to obtain the wealth of knowledge available in the many seminars.  Speakers such as Lori Taylor from Smashbox, Marc Harvey of Luminess Air, and John Hennessy of Inglot Cosmetics, spoke on the latest trends for the season, airbrushing techniques, and achieving editorial beauty.

After circling the showroom floor many times and mulling over all of the different products and items presented, HMM was able to come to a decision on the top 3 products that were different, innovative, and functional.

1. Oil Blotting Bronzing Paper by Mai Couture is one of the savviest and most practical ideas HMM has seen in a while. Why not remove excess oil from the skin while simultaneously applying bronzer? Paired with the stylish carrying case, these are the Chanel of blotting papers.

2. Mineral Pigments by Naked Cosmetics is a super diverse product that can be used on eyes, nails, lips, and hair. Adding water or a little clear nail polish really makes this product go a long way.

3. Paper Lashes by PaperSelf are the newest artistic trend for eyelashes. Paper that is laser cut into symbolic designs can be comfortably worn on the lashes.
